MY BIG GAY ITALIAN WEDDING Opens At Hudson Theatre In March Image

Anthony Pinnunziato loves Andrew Polinski and has proposed to him. Anthony's very traditional Italian mother, Angela, insists that they have a Catholic wedding with Father Rosalia presiding. Given the Vatican's position on same-sex marriages, this presents a challenge. Angela also insists that Andrew's mother fly in from Florida to attend the wedding, set to take place in the fanciest Italian restaurant. But Andrew's mother still refuses to talk to her gay son.

The biggest challenge of all may come from Gregorio, Andrew's spurned ex-lover. He threatens to scuttle the proceedings by revealing a nasty secret about Andrew.

Will love conquer all? Will a large, loving Italian family come together, despite multiple obstacles, to celebrate the marriage of two men deeply in love?

Anthony Wilkinson is the playwright. His other works for the stage include My Big Gay Italian Midlife Crisis; My Big Gay Italian Funeral; and (with Teresa Ann Cicala) Boys Just Wanna Have Fun. A graduate of NYU, Wilkinson is the recipient of several Daytime Emmys and Directors Guild Awards for his work as an associate director on the daytime drama One Life to Live.

My Big Gay Italian Wedding debuted in New York in 2003.

Gianfranco Terrin is the director of the new Hollywood production. A native of Naples, he trained in Los Angeles at the Lee Strasberg Institute. Also an actor, he appeared in Live by Night (director Ben Affleck) and Distant Vision (director Francis Ford Coppola) as well as in other Italian and American films, and also television (Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders; Disney's Movie Surfers, more).

Terrin's cast for My Big Gay Italian Wedding includes (in alphabetical order) Carlo Carere, Tiera Dashae, David-Simon Dayan, Claudia Jakab, Linda Nile, Ana Maria Perez, Julian Zambrano, and Terrin himself.

Associate producer: Esther Caporale. Lighting design: Moshe Segal. Production partners: Alessandro del Piero's N.10; L.A. First Step; Upstage Productions.

Opening night reception will take place after the March 8 performance at Alessandro del Piero's N. 10 Restaurant, 8436 W. 3rd St., Los Angeles, CA 90048.

RESERVATIONS: (323) 481-6890.
