Lyric Hyperion Theatre Presents ALEX

ALEX
(A cautionary fairy tale for a modern world)
When Alex sets out to find his lost cat, he loses his way and ends up in a topsy- turvy world inhabited by talking animals. If Alex doesn't find his way home he is at risk of losing his memory forever. As he struggles to make it back, his quest comes to an unexpected halt when he encounters The Almighty Heart!
ALEX is a theatrical event that draws its inspiration from classic tales such as Alice in Wonderland, and The Wizard of Oz, reinterpreting these familiar narratives to place focus on race, gender, and our present day political climate. All while still being wildly funny.
At the helm of this cautionary fairy tale is queer Cuban playwright, Juan Martin Matamoros. Juan Martin is known for uniting diverse voices and telling stories
through a uniquely queer Latino lens. Juan Martin's most recent works include: The Gentlemen (an all gay male version of the 1939 classic The Women), and Wham! The Boys Behind the Shorts.
ALEX is a special one night only event that happens on Saturday, April 28th at The Lyric Hyperion Theatre in the heart of Silverlake.
