Loft Ensemble Presents THE CHERRY ORCHARD

LOFT ENSEMBLE announces a production of Anton Chekhov's classic play, The Cherry Orchard, adapted and directed by newcomer JarEd Wilson. Performances begin with opening night December 9 at 8 pm.

Called a 'vaudeville' by Chekhov himself, this modern adaptation lays into the comedy that most productions avoid. Reeling from an attempted suicide, a wealthy middle aged woman returns to her childhood home. Searching for repose and strength, The Cherry Orchard's eclectic band of misfits detract her from finding peace (while subtracting from her purse). The motley cast of characters collide in an attempt to forget that their beloved orchard is up for auction and no one has a penny to save it. Chekhov's crowning work is as blooming with life as the Orchard it's named after.

Loft Ensemble is one of Los Angeles's up and coming resident theatre companies, consistently offering some of the most high energy and ground breaking productions in the area. In its young history, Loft has already won several awards including two Ovation Awards in 2015, Best Ensemble at the 2013 New York International Fringe Festival, and back to back Producers' Encore Awards at the Hollywood Fringe Festival for 2015 and 2016. Two of Loft's 2016 productions earned a combined five nominations for BroadwayWorld Awards.
