Lamb's Players Theatre has extended its run of the popular musical Godspell. The production, currently playing at the Horton Grand Theatre, will now be performed through November 22. Written by Stephen Schwartz and John-Michael Tebelak, the musical is directed by Lamb's Players' Producing Artistic Director, Robert Smyth.

Set to Schwartz's lively score and filled with vibrant performances by a versatile cast, this funny and inspiring musical tells the story of the Gospel according to St. Matthew. "Best bet! Inventive, energetic, inspiring," said Pat Launer of SDNN.com. Bill Eadie of SanDiego.com enthusiastically asks, "Looking for a lift for the whole family? Head on down to the Horton Grand Theatre for Lamb's Players production of Godspell. This should be a great hit, so don't let it get by you!"

Before he wrote Wicked, Working, or Pippin, Stephen Schwartz wrote Godspell. Go back another 1,970 years, and you'll find a guy from Galilee who changed the world. Now Lamb's Players returns to one of its most memorable shows of all time with a knockout cast and a killer band, in a stirring production that incorporates Schwartz's recent musical additions to his now-classic score. Packed with infectious songs like "Bless the Lord," "It's All for the Best," and the beloved anthem "Day by Day," Godspell tells the Greatest Story ever told - in a style that blends commedia, vaudeville, even Saturday Night Live-esque shtick - with music that ranges from pop to reggae to rock to show-stopping musical theatre. Joyous, funny, and inspiring, Godspell is a great time at the theatre and perfect for the whole family.

The cast includes LPT Ensemble members Season Duffy and Jon Lorenz, guest artists Bryan Barbarin, Jessica Couto, Tracy Hughes and associate artists Leonard Patton and Lance Arthur Smith, who plays the role of Jesus. Scenic design is by Mike Buckley, lighting design is by Nathan Peirson, with musical direction by G. Scott Lacy. Jeanne Reith and Jemima Dutra designed the costumes, choreography is by Colleen Kollar Smith and sound design is by Patrick Duffy. The properties designer is Michael McKeon and Maria Mangiavellano is the production stage manager.

Godspell plays at the Horton Grand Theatre, located in San Diego's downtown Gaslamp Quarter at 444 4th Avenue. Performances take place Thursday at 7:30pm, Friday at 4:00pm & 8:00pm, Saturday at 4:00pm & 8:00pm and Sunday at 2:00pm.
