LA County Arts Internship Program Seeks Non-Profits Looking for Summer 2014 Interns; Deadline 11/6

By:

Applications now open for Los Angeles County-based nonprofit arts organizations interested in hiring college undergraduate interns through the Los Angeles County Arts Internship Program. The deadline to apply is November 6, 2013. Program guidelines and eligibility requirements can be found at lacountyarts.org/internships.

The internship program is for ten weeks during the 2014 summer and provides undergraduate students with meaningful, paid on-the-job training and experience in working in nonprofit arts organizations, while assisting arts organizations to develop future arts leaders.

Organizations interested in hiring a summer intern can receive grants of $2,500 to $4,000, depending on organizational budget size, to be used to pay interns. To support the internships, Los Angeles County Arts Commission, on behalf of the County, will give grants totaling $500,000 to fund approximately 140 internships at arts organizations throughout the County.

The program is for Los Angeles County-based nonprofit performing, presenting (including film and media organizations with a presenting program), arts service, municipal and literary arts organizations that are interested in mentoring an undergraduate college student for ten weeks during summer 2014. For detailed guidelines and eligibility requirements, visit lacountyarts.org/internships.

A free application workshop will be held on Wednesday, October 9, 2013 from 3:00 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. at the Arts Commission offices, 1055 Wilshire Blvd., Suite 800, in downtown Los Angeles. To register for the workshop, visit lacountyarts.org/internships. For more information about the Internship Program, email internship@arts.lacounty.gov or call (213) 202-5858.
