Jim Loucks' New Solo Show THE BISCUITEATER Heads to Electric Lodge, 7/24-8/9

By:
Solo performer Jim Loucks brings his Southern storytelling style to the Electric Lodge with his new show The Biscuiteater July 24 - Aug 9 (1416 Electric Ave, Venice, CA 90291). The Biscuiteater is directed by Lisa Chess.

The Biscuiteater opens on Friday July 24th at 8:00pm. This new show premiered at the FronteraFest in Austin, TX in Jan. and then traveled to the Oahu Fringe and the Solo Performance Festival at theatre off Jackson in Seattle.

Based loosely on his childhood, The Biscuiteater is told in Loucks' distinctive Southern storytelling style with songs and humor. Granddaddy was his hero, a big man with a bigger personality, haunted by demons from his days as Chief of Police in small-town Georgia. It is a moving tribute to an imperfect hero.

Loucks has spent the last few years traveling the country with his first show Cemetery Golf, which had successful runs at the United Solo Theatre Festival in New York, SoloFest in Albuquerque, the Fringes in Orlando, San Diego, Hollywood, San Francisco and Boulder and the Cincy Fringe, where he received a CityBeat critic's pick. He will be returning to United Solo with The Biscuiteater in September.

The Electric Lodge (www.electriclodge.org) is located at 1416 Electric Ave, Venice, CA 90291. Performances run Friday July 24 through Sunday August 9, with performances on Fridays @ 8pm, Saturdays @ 8pm and Sundays @ 2pm. Tickets: $15 ($10 Seniors, Students) at www.brownpapertickets.com or www.jimloucks.com.

Jim Loucks began his theatre career in summer stock at the Highlands Playhouse in North Carolina. After earning an MFA in acting at the University of Georgia, he moved to Los Angeles where he has appeared in several plays and independent films. He has spent the last few years traveling the country with his first show Cemetery Golf to the United Solo Theatre Festival in New York, SoloFest in Albuquerque, the Fringes in Orlando, San Diego, Hollywood, San Francisco, Oahu, and Boulder and the Cincy Fringe, where he received a CityBeat critic's pick. Cemetery Golf was also produced at the Drilling Company in New York, Electric Lodge in Los Angeles, and the Hudson Opera House in Hudson, NY.
