Jerome Elliott Plays 'A Dry Heat' at Joslyn Center, 8/28

By:

One of the Desert's favorite singers, Jerome Elliott, who will be making his New York cabaret debut in the fall, gives Desert audiences a sneak preview of his East Coast-bound show, A Dry Heat on August 28th as part of Les Michaels' Summer Cabaret Series at the Joslyn Center's Arthur Newman Theatre.

With selections from Broadway and popular songs to novelty numbers, Elliott shows how music keeps him smiling through the scorching desert summer. Elliott says: "I would not be headed to New York without the years of wonderful support of Desert audiences, the Joslyn Center in particular" - where he's had the opportunity to do plays, musicals, and two solo cabaret shows and with whom he is thrilled to share A Dry Heat before taking it NYC's legendary cabaret room, The Duplex in September. Prior to the Arthur Newman Theatre date, Elliott will appear at Julia's on Capitol Hill in Seattle, where he performed last spring by invitation of the Northwest Pacific Cabaret Association.

"For my New York debut, I wanted to include a sampling of my favorite material from my Desert Theater League nominated cabaret Something to Smile About with my shows from earlier this year - Bat out of Jersey and My Favorite Springs - and added five new numbers that showcase a diverse range of styles. The show takes its name from the original novelty song that I wrote with Tim Bruneau about our Valley's famously arid weather."

Elliott was a participant in the prestigious 2008 International Cabaret Conference at Yale University and a four-time Desert Theater League nominee for his cabaret and theater performances. His musical director will be Charlie Creasy, whose credits include music director for the legendary chanteuse Hildegarde. Show time on Saturday, August 28, 2010 is 7 PM and tickets are $10 at the door. Reservations: 760-325-2731 or online at Brown Paper Tickets, #121902.
