Jean Smart, Frances Fisher, Mimi Rogers and Melina Kanakaredes to appear in MY CHILD: Mothers of War, a play by Angeliki Giannakopoulos based on the true stories of mothers whose lives were radically changed when their sons and daughters were sent to fight the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

The play, presented by Human Revolution Entertainment, opens next month at the Hudson Theatre in Los Angeles. It plays for six weeks beginning Sunday April 26th at the Hudson Backstage Theatre (6530 Santa Monica Blvd. Hollywood, 90039). Tickets are $30 and may be purchased at plays411.com/mychild.

The play is based on Giannakopoulos' award winning documentary of the same name, which aired nationally on PBS. Frances Fisher (Resurrection, In the Valley of Elah, Portrait of Love, Titanic), Melina Kanakaredes (NYPD Blue, CSI: New York, Rounders, The Guiding Light), Mimi Rogers (Two and a Half Men, Balls To The Walls, Lost In Space, Hope Springs) and Jean Smart (Frasier, The District, The Man Who Came To Dinner, Guinevere) will perform this collection of monologues.

The mothers represent very different opinions about war, politics, social and cultural issues. Despite these strong differences, as mothers they all share a limitless love for their children-children who have been killed, maimed, and are in daily peril of their lives or who had the courage to refuse service. These American mothers represent women throughout history and in every part of the world who have ever sent a child to war. They represent Nigerian Mothers, Kosovo Mothers, Israeli mothers and Iraqi mothers. They all share one common denominator: unconditional love for their child. They are MOTHERS OF WAR!

On April 26th at 7 pm there will be a Gala Opening Fundraiser for Fisher House Foundation (www.losangeles.va.gov/fisherhouse/) a network of comfort homes where military and veteran's families can stay at no cost while a loved one is receiving treatment. This is the second fundraiser the production has done for Fisher House Foundation. In September 2011 the monologues were performed by many of the same cast members at Beverly Hills Playhouse.
