Aurora Foundation Japanese Culture and Language Program

The Aurora Foundation will offer their second Japanese Culture and Language Program in coordination with the JACCC, designed to introduce selected aspects of Japanese culture.

The JACCC and Cinefamily are pleased to present the annual classic Japanese film screening Katsudo Shashin (Moving Pictures) with the film When a Woman Ascends the Stairs at the Cinefamily Theatre on Fairfax Avenue.
Directed by the highly influential Mikio Naruse, the film featured the recently deceased Hideko Takamine. Actress Yoko Sugi will be present to discuss her experiences with both Naruse and Takamine. Light refreshments will be served following the film screening.

Bamboo and Petals III: The Price Collection

Sunday, 04.17 - Sunday, 05.08.11
JACCC's ongoing dedication to showcasing some of the most traditional and avant-garde work in Japanese Bamboo Baskets presents twenty baskets from the private collection of Etsuko & Joe Price.
The Shin'en Kan Foundation will incorporate works by three flower arrangement schools, the distinct Sogetsu, Ikenobo, and Ohara-Ryu.

Rhythmic Relations 2011

One of the most innovative ensembles in the American taiko scene, TAIKOPROJECT demonstrates the finest U.S. has to offer. Collaborating with Ryutaro Kaneko, former Artistic Director of Kodo, and featuring Bombu Taiko, Kitsune Taiko, and Loma Pacific Taiko, the JACCC and TAIKOPROJECT are excited to present this outdoor concert.
