Cyanide Theater and Cherry Poppins Productions once again invites audiences to Los Angeles, 1944 to help quick-talking, hard-nosed detective Duff McKagan track down a missing girl in the original film noir burlesque comedy Angel's Flight, playing Wednesday nights from Sept. 7-28 at Three Clubs Cocktail Lounge.

Written by Benjamin Schwartz and Matt Ritchey (who also directs), Angel's Flight follows McKagan's search for the missing dame through seedy bars, back alleys and awkward dream sequences. He's hot on the doll's trail, but barking up the wrong tree and other such noir-ish clichés. Every time he gets close, something gets in the way. Things aren't always as they seem in the City of Angels, and the chase becomes a downward spiral of betrayal, murder and perhaps most deadly of all...marijuana! Angel's Flight blends elements of film noir, quick-witted comedy and sexy burlesque for a truly unique theatrical experience.

"It's a fully crafted story and fast-paced spoof with tantalizing burlesque and a real 1940s atmosphere with that Three Clubs' throwback vibe," Ritchey said. "Plus, great martinis!"

Ritchey has directed a number of Hollywood Fringe hits including Boss: The Untold Tony Danza Story and Romeo and Juliet in Hell. An accomplished screenwriter and playwright, his show Nevermore about Edgar Allen Poe will be produced at Theatre Unleashed in the fall. Schwartz is also a Fringe vet with his show Zip Ties earning awards and acclaim. The two met in 2015 and realized they both shared an idea for a staged noir show. They collaborated over drinks at Three Clubs, about ten feet from where the show eventually went up and played for six sold-out performances.

Angel's Flight returns after having won the Best Cabaret/Variety Award as part of Hollywood Fringe 2016. The show was initially unable to extend due to cast unavailability.

"But so many people wanted to see it extend, return and continue, that we regrouped and have added new material," Ritchey said. The show now includes both new sequences and more dancers and comedic bits. "But we made sure to keep the fast-paced style that makes the show so fun."
