Hero Theatre Announces THE SUPER SABADO SHOW, A Comedy Benefit For Puerto Rico

Hero Theatre announced today the launch of "The Super Sabado Show," a live comedy benefit event for Puerto Rico. "The Super Sabado Show" will be presented on April 14, 2018 at 8pm at The Rosenthal Theater at Inner-City Arts in Los Angeles.

"The Super Sabado Show" is inspired by favorite classic comedy shows, "Saturday Night Live" and Univision's "Sábado Gigante", the longest-running television variety series in history.

The Show takes a comedic look at United States' support of Puerto Rico, post Hurricane Maria. It will include live music, surprise guests and scenes written by some of comedy's celebrated writers.

"The Super Sabado Show" will be directed and performed by members of Hero Theatre. It will also include a puppet presentation inspired by "The Punch and Judy Show" with puppets created by master puppeteers Lynn Jeffries and Paul Zaloom.

"Several of our company members, myself included, have family in Puerto Rico who have suffered a great deal due to the devastation caused by Hurricane Maria. Our board president, Jonathan Gottfried moved to Puerto Rico one year ago to do social justice work there and continues to work in the judicial system, despite the difficult conditions, because he believes in Puerto Rico. The island has a long way to go before full recovery. All of us at Hero want to show our support," stated Hero Theatre's producing artistic director, Elisa Bocanegra.

Box office proceeds will go towards Hero Theatre's efforts for Puerto Rico, which includes a new education program being created for children on the island who were affected by the hurricane.
