This summer, the Hollywood Bowl's Jazz at the Bowl series pays tribute to Ray Charles with a night dedicated to his distinct and versatile artistry.
Just added to the stunning line-up is a uniquely comprised house band including multi-faceted musicianGeorge Duke (piano); Shelly Berg (organ); jazz trumpeters Terence Blanchard and Scotty Barnhart;Houston Person and Tom Scott (tenor sax and baritone sax) and versatile musician/producer Gregg Field (music director/drums).
The evening would not be complete without tribute to the famous girl group that backed Ray Charles, "The Raelettes" and, for this concert, that group will include R&B/jazz singer Patti Austin, singer/songwriter Siedah Garrett and recording artist Monica Mancini. These newly added artists join previously announced special guests Dee Dee Bridgewater, Kenny "Babyface" Edmonds, Martina McBride, BeBe Winans, and the legendary Count Basie Orchestra.
