Gay Men's Chorus of Los Angeles and Broadway Veteran Alan Cumming Bring to Life Classics of Broadway

By:

Kicking off its spectacular 38th Season, the Gay Men's Chorus of Los Angeles (GMCLA), widely respected for its impactful and acclaimed original programming, will be presenting "He Had It Coming," its spring concert starring venerated Broadway, TV and film actor Alan Cumming, on April 1 and 2.

In addition to the Tony-winning Hollywood and Broadway star, GMCLA's talented and diverse 250-plus chorus will bring to life all the show-stopping gems of Broadway during its three-show run at the Alex Theatre (216 N. Brand Blvd.) in Glendale.

Presented by Wells Fargo, "He Had It Coming" will showcase the magical talent of many of Broadway's leading composers with hidden gems and extraordinary showtunes from the Golden Age, including Kander and Ebb's razzling, dazzling "Cabaret" right up to several selections from current Tony-winning Broadway musicals, including Harvey Fierstein and Cyndi Lauper's high-heeled hit "Kinky Boots" to historical masterpieces like Lin-Manuel Miranda's "Hamilton."

Hankering for a dose of religious satire and handsome young men in fresh-pressEd White dress shirts and ties? "He Had It Coming" has got you covered with renditions from God's favorite musical, "The Book of Mormon." GMCLA will awaken your spirits with performances from hit musicals like Hedwig and the Angry Inch, The Producers, Avenue Q, Billy Elliot, Side Show Pippin, and a Light in the Piazza, among countless others.

"GMCLA concerts are always a unique experience," says Dr. Joe Nadeau, Artistic Director and Conductor for the Gay Men's Chorus of Los Angeles. "He Had It Coming combines all the things that audiences love about GMCLA with music from the amazingly diverse world of musical theatre. Where else can you bring together 250 gay men, Mormons, Drag Queens, Transgender Rock Stars, Shakespeare, conjoined twins in a carnival, British aristocracy, and cabaret singers in Nazi Germany and have it all make sense? This showcases GMCLA's rich, stunning choral sound, spectacular production numbers, dazzling costumes, and a message that we can all make this world a better place where all of us can be our true authentic selves."

Cumming and the Gay Men's Chorus of Los Angeles are not to be missed as they bring to life nearly two dozen musical treasures from Broadway. "He Had It Coming" has two performances on Saturday, April 1 at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. and on the following day, Sunday, April 2 at 2 p.m.
