Actress, singer, and comedienne Hanna LoPatin will be directed by comedienne Ana Gasteyer, best known for her work on Saturday Night Live, in the one woman show, The Sound of One Hanna Clapping at Comedy Central Stage at the Hudson, Tues. Oct. 14 & IO West Theatre, Thurs., Oct. 16. LoPatin's Los Angeles dates come on the heels of her August performances of the show at The New York International Fringe Festival (FringeNYC), the largest multi-arts Festival in North America, FringeNYC, where she was lauded with Best Bet notices.
With humor and pathos, LoPatin recounts snippets of life culled from childhood ballet rehearsals to adventures in the theatre department at the University of Michigan, in this biographical sketch show. Prior to the NY Fringe Fest, LoPatin completed a successful six week run performing The Sound of One Hanna Clapping at Chicago's Apollo Studio Theatre, where she also garnered high praise from the media.Hanna LoPatin discovered her love of comedy after enrolling in a writing class at Detroit's Second City. Since moving to Chicago in 2003, LoPatin has performed in many sketch and improv shows around the city. She has also trained and honed her talents at the Second City Conservatory, Second City Writing Program, I.O. (formerly Improv Olympic), and the Annoyance Theater.A native of suburban Detroit, Michigan, LoPatin graduated with a B.A. in English from the University of Michigan. At U of M, LoPatin participated in the New England Literature Program where she climbed mountains, read Thoreau and Emerson, pierced her eyebrow, and discovered her song-writing skills.Gasteyer is a well known Broadway performer who made her Broadway debut as 'Columbia' in The Rocky Horror Show. She has starred as 'Elphaba' in the hit Broadway musical Wicked and as 'Mrs Peachum,' in the Roundabout Theatre Company's revival of The Threepenny Opera. Also among Gasteyer's memorable performances was her run in Eve Ensler's acclaimed Off-Broadway hit The Vagina Monologues and as Fanny Brice in a benefit performance of Funny Girl at The Pittsburgh Civic Light Opera.
