The Los Angeles Master Chorale launches into summer with a free group singing event called Big Sing L.A. in Grand Park on Saturday, June 24 at 1 PM.

Five dynamic choral conductors will lead participants through a program of popular, well known songs alongside short easy-to-learn choral pieces that the conductors will teach. In addition, professional singers from the Los Angeles Master Chorale will perform a short set of music before interspersing amongst the attendees to provide expert encouragement for the main event. Conductors include Grant Gershon, Eric Whitacre, Francisco Núñez, Moira Smiley, and Rollo Dilworth, who will take turns leading the crowd from the Grand Park stage located in the downtown park between Temple Street and Grand Avenue. Songs such as "Lean On Me," "The Lion Sleeps Tonight," and "Bridge Over Troubled Water" will be performed and lyric sheets will be provided.

"Come and sing with us! Big Sing L.A. is an opportunity to bring people together from all over the city to share in the joy of singing as part of a large group," said Los Angeles Master Chorale Artistic Director Grant Gershon. "We have chosen songs that people will either already know, or that are easy to learn, and encourage people of all abilities to be part of this event."

"Harmony can sometimes be in short supply in our daily lives, so the Big Sing L.A. offers the opportunity to come together harmoniously and-most of all-have some fun!"

As a prelude to the musical activities, four of the city's most popular food trucks will also be in Grand Park near the stage area, serving from 12 noon and people are encouraged to come early and enjoy lunch on the lawn. Food will be available for purchase. Complimentary water will be provided to participants, courtesy of Coca Cola. No choir experience is required to participate.

People interested in participating in Big Sing L.A. are encouraged to sign up for email updates and information about the event at lamasterchorale.org/big-sing-la.

Big Sing L.A. is supported by the California Arts Council, the City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs, the Los Angeles County Arts Commission, Metro, and Wells Fargo.
