'You’re Invited!' It’s Lynn’s surprise 50ish birthday party and her best friend, Mark has decided to cheer him up after learning that he’s had his first colonoscopy. He’s having trouble peeing, the AARP is after him, and he now wants a Harley...is he on the road to needing the little blue pill? Either way, he’s having a mid-life crisis!

Midlife crisis is a term coined in 1965 by Elliott Jaques, a Canadian psychoanalyst, to describe the time when adults come to realize their mortality and that life may be more than halfway over. Men and women alike are plagued with transitional characteristics experienced in this phase of life such as; developing a gut, balding, menopause, dealing with elderly parents and children leaving the nest. Other conditions that cause grief are broken dreams, unemployment or realizing that a job or career is hated The typical reaction can manifest into a change in career or marriage, romantic relationships with younger people, large expenditures (toys), and alterations in physical appearance to achieve a feeling of youthfulness.

The true beauty of this production is that it finds a way to laugh at the concept of aging gracefully and asks the questions; is a “mid-life crisis” real or just a state of mind inflicted by human belief? At what point in our lifespan are we considered “over-the-hill”? Those and many other issues are poked fun at in the form of song and dance in this outrageous take on, well, middle-age!

Whether you are approaching middle-age, are middle-aged, or way past, come join the party where you’re not just the audience...you’re party guests!
