Dark, Abstract Horror Play KILL ME to Make LA Debut, 4/19-6/2

By:

The Visceral Company is will present the Los Angeles premiere of dark, abstract horror play KILL ME, written by Chicago playwright Scott T. Barsotti and directed by Dan Spurgeon (Visceral's Artistic Director and LA Weekly Theater Award winner). KILL ME will play Friday and Saturday evenings at 8 pm and Sunday matinees at 3 pm, from April 19 through June 2, 2013, at the Lex Theatre, 6760 Lexington Ave., Hollywood, Calif.

Official opening night is Friday, April 26. Tickets are $20 for all performances and are available through www.thevisceralcompany.com. There are special preview performances April 19-21 with all tickets just $10.

KILL ME examines the fuzzy lines between belief and reality. After a horrific car accident, a young woman emerges from a coma convinced that beings from another dimension have made her immortal. Her sister and lover think she is suffering from mental illness... until the same beings start affecting them as well. Have they opened the gates of Hell upon themselves, or is it all a product of the mind? And ultimately, is there a difference?

KILL ME features Natasha Charles Parker* as accident victim Cam, Angela Stern as her sister Wendy, and Jonica Patella (LA Weekly Theater Award winner and LADCC nominee) as her lover Grace. Playing the four Miseries, beings named for the emotions they embody, are Yanna Fabian (Paranoia), Karen Nicole (Dread), Alexander Price (Despair), and Lamont Webb (Angst).

Lighting design is by Dave Sousa (LA Weekly Theater Award nominee), set design by Ben Womick, costume design by Erica D. Schwartz, and makeup design by Jana Wimer. Rosie Santilena is assistant director.

This show contains mature content and is not recommended for young children.

The Visceral Company is dedicated to presenting killer shows from darker places. We hope to encourage further onstage exploration of the horror, thriller and science fiction genres, which have been underrepresented in theatre, and to build an appreciation of theatre in the younger audiences that are traditionally drawn to them.

* Member, Actor's Equity Association. This production is presented under the AEA LA 99-Seat Theatre Plan.
