After his debut engagement at the Metropolitan Room in New York City, Court Graves is excited to bring "My Perfect Night" back to the desert, which he calls his home away from home, on Sunday, August 14th and The Arthur Newman Theatre in Palm Desert. The show includes reworked versions of standards by Sammy Cahn, Steve Allen and others from the Great American Songbook, while adding some contemporary writers such as Suzanne Vega, to the mix. Court's show will be followed by his debut at Los Angeles' famed Catalina Bar & Grill later in the month and he is currently in the recording studio with a CD version of this show.

For the CD Court went to music producer and well-known Los Angeles composer/arranger Bill Brendle. Mr. Graves' original idea was to record an album of standards, but he wanted to put a different spin on them and decided to pursue a Brazilian influence, and working with Bill Brendle proved to be a perfect match. Bill incorporated Brazilian rhythms to many of Court's favorite songs; from Bahia parade rhythms in "This Could Be the Start of Something," to Rio Carnivale and Frevo on "Too Close for Comfort," a Brazilian tango twist on "Caramel," and classic samba sounds to "Night Song." Each song connects with Court lyrically and musically, and with some part of his personality or life experience. Some were originally recorded by two of his favorite singers, Dinah Washington and Sammy Davis, Jr., whose unique vocal arrangements influenced Court and Bill's decision to include them in this show.

Accompanying Court for the Sunday, August 14th at 2 PM concert will be Steven Applegate, piano, Leo Costa, percussion, and Terry Wollman, guitars. Tickets are $10 cash at the box office, which will open at 1 PM and includes complimentary wine.
