Cherry Poppins Productions to Present Burlesque Journey in SHAKESLESQUE

By:

Cherry Poppins Productions to Present Burlesque Journey in SHAKESLESQUE ImageAt this year's Hollywood Fringe Festival, Cherry Poppins Productions shocked, and awed audiences with their immersive and satirical, musical theatre burlesque journey through the swirling head of "William Sexspeare".

After a fully sold out run, that resulted in five award nominations, including, The Inkwell Playwright's Promise Award, The Beyond Bechdel-Wallace Award, Best Cabaret or Variety Show, World Premiere, and Top of the Fringe. Cherry Poppins Production of SHAKESLESQUE, took home awards for the Best Cabaret or Variety Show and Top of the Fringe. Becoming the first Cabaret or Variety production in Hollywood Fringe history, to win the coveted Top of the Fringe award.

Starting in August 2017 and running through the end of September, Cherry Poppins will be reprising the experience that is SHAKESLESQUE - To Thine Own Cherry Be True, at their continued residency venue, Three Clubs, in the heart of Hollywood, CA.

Come along on an adventure with the famous "William Sexspeare", who is experiencing a terrible case of writer's block, as he stumbles, heavily inebriated, into a dilapidated yet musical whorehouse, known as "The Knock Shop-upon-Avon". Upon his arrival, he picks an evening companion who promises to inspire creativity. He is then drugged, experiences an orgy and passes out. Now, amidst his intoxicated mind, his whore/Jiminy Cricket,"F*ck", is addressing him as King Queer and introducing him to his three daughters, "Lady Macbreast", "Juliewet" and "Beabitch". As it would seem, prior to "Sexspeare" writing the plays we know today;his characters were dreadfully mixed and matched within his brain.Unbeknownst to you, each character you love, fear, or haven't metyet, actually once resided at "The Knock Shop-upon-Avon"...or did they? Will "Sexspeare" ever write again? Who is "Ham-on-Rye"? How did "Shakeslesque Hill" survive "Tightass Androgynous"? All this and more can be answered by getting yourself in a glitter covered seat!
