Celebration Theatre to Present THE COLOR PURPLE, 3/9-5/26

Celebration Theatre today announced that the third show of its 2011-2012 Season, THE COLOR PURPLE, book by Marsha Norman, music and lyrics by Brenda Russell, Allee Willis and Stephen Bray, musical direction by Gregory Nabours, choreography by Janet Roston and directed by Michael Matthews.  THE COLOR PURPLE will open on Friday, March 9 and will perform through Saturday, May 26 at Celebration Theatre, 7051B Santa Monica Blvd in Hollywood. 

THE COLOR PURPLE is described as "a soul-stirring musical based on the classic Pulitzer Prize-winning novel by Alice Walker and the moving film by Steven Spielberg. It is the unforgettable and inspiring story of a woman named Celie, who finds her unique voice in the world.  Nominated for 11 Tony Awards®, THE COLOR PURPLE is a landmark theatrical event, a celebration of love and a Broadway phenomenon.

"With a joyous GRAMMY®-nominated score featuring jazz, gospel and blues, THE COLOR PURPLE will capture the hearts of young and old, and uniting audiences in a community of joy.  Brought to the Celebration Theatre Mainstage under the direction of NAACP award winner, Michael Matthews, with a cast of 17, this is a musical event not to be missed!"
