Bret Michaels Hospitalized Again with 'Warning Stroke'

By: May. 21, 2010

According to Contactmusic.com Bret Michael has been rushed back to the hospital after a 'warning stroke. A 'warning stroke' or Transient Ischemic Attack which is a change in the blood supply to a particular area of the brain, resulting in brief neurological dysfunction that persists, by definition, for less than 24 hours.

After some testing was conducted doctors found Michaels has a Patent Foramen Ovale, a small hole in his heart. Michael's doctor said "There is no doubt that the positive Patent Foramen Ovale (PFO) is devastating news to Bret and his family. The good news is that it is operable and treatable and we think we may have diagnosed the problem that caused the Transient Ischemic Attach (TIA) or warning stroke; however we feel it is highly unlikely this is connected to the brain haemorrhage he suffered just a few weeks earlier.

"I realise Bret wants to make a full recovery so that he can be active with his family, attempt to attend the finale of Celebrity Apprentice and especially get back on the road to continue making music. Without a doubt he is very determined to get healthy and make a 100 per cent recovery."

On April 22, Bret Michaels was rushed to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center after suffering a brain hemorrhage. Fans may remember last year when Michaels was struck in the head by a piece of scenery following his performance on the 2009 Tony Awards. Although this incident did not contribute to his brian hemorrhage.

The rocker, who suffers from Type 1 diabetes, recently had an appendectomy on April 12. In addition his career as the lead singer of Poison, Michaels has several solo albums to his credit. He has also starred in the VH1 reality show Rock of Love with Bret Michaels and its sequels, and as a judge on the talent show Nashville Star. He is a contestant on NBC's reality show Celebrity Apprentice 3. His hits, "Every Rose Has Its Thorn" and "Nothing But a Good Time" are featured in the Broadway hit musical ROCK OF AGES.
