Barry Pearl, Phil Morris Set for HILLARY & MONICA: MORE THAN JUST THE BJ Reading in Hollywood Today

Film and Stage producers/writers Victor Bardack (The Great New Wonderful) and Edward Michael Bell (The Jesse Owens Games) have written and produced a tragi-comedy for the stage titled HILLARY & MONICA: MORE THAN JUST THE BJ. It will be directed by award winning Joel Zwick (My Big Fat Greek Wedding). Bardack and Bell head the motion picture and stage production company under their banner Argus Entertainment located in Beverly Hills.

HILLARY & MONICA: MORE THAN JUST THE BJ, is a hilarious story about two ambitious playwrights who want to tell their version of a story of Hillary Clinton and Monica Lewinsky finding their way back to the media. They are beset with a minefield of stumbling blocks. Trapped in a world of political correctness and potential lawsuits, these bumbling playwrights careen about in their own lives in which in some hysterical way mirrors the lives of the characters they hope to create. Hillary and Monica, the two playwrights, and so many others, live in a world where fact and fiction are incestuously co-mingled to the point where the boundaries of reality and fantasy are clearly blurred.

The play has been in development for a year and has tried out different cast members over that time in-between other Argus Entertainment projects including very big names in the film and stage arena. Currently Joel Zwick, the plays Director, is recognized as one of Hollywood's most prolific directors of episodic television, having the direction of 525 episodes to his credit. He is also a successful award winning Stage Director who has brought the world Tony nominated plays as Shenandoah and Oklahoma on the New York stage and national tours. Zwick began his theatrical career at LaMama E.T.C. He has directed on Broadway, Off-Broadway and Broadway touring companies. His directed TV shows are iconic including Laverne & Shirley, Mork and Mindy, Two of a Kind, Perfect Strangers, Webster and many others.

Zwick directed My Big Fat Greek Wedding, the highest grossing romantic comedy of all time, produced by Tom Hanks. Recent films have included Fat Albert (with Bill Cosby) and Elvis Has Left the Building with John Corbett and Kim Basinger.. " We are excited to have Joel Directing Hillary & Monica...where he will take our written words and translate them to the stage in this unique story of playwrights writing about bumbling playwrights in New York." said writers/producers Bardack and Bell.

The cast for this week's preview performance includes Barry Pearl (Grease, Baby It's You) as one of the playwrights. Phil Morris (Seinfeld, Love That Girl) is cast as Greg Goldfarb. Phil's dad in real life was award winning actor the late Greg Morris (Mission Impossible).

It's that season again! And they are all back with us! The Politicians and their entourage. Monopolizing the media and stealing the spotlight. Back in our lives now come Hillary and Monica, yes, the Hillary and Monica. This time, it's a new stage comedy, HILLARY & MONICA "...more than just the BJ!"

The writing, producing team, Victor Bardack and Edward Michael Bell - ARGUS Entertainment, ("The Gumshoe Kid", "Rockets' Red Glare", and "The Great New Wonderful") has been lurching their way through stage and film projects for over a decade. Bell was married to the legendary film star, Esther Williams and is the inspiration for his current film project as a contemporary drama "AquaStar". They are excited to have Joel Zwick (Director, "My Big Fat Greek Wedding") jumping on board as the Director of HILLARY & MONICA, their new outrageous comedy.

Why did they create it? they were asked: "Because the insanity of contemporary politics would lead any half-sane writers down that wacky road. Literary irreverence is only a reflection of the world in which we live," they said.
