U.S. performing right organization BMI will honor the songwriters and publishers of the most performed urban songs on U.S. radio and television for the past 12 months. WHAT: 10th Annual BMI Urban Awards will be hosted by Del R. Bryant, President & CEO of BMI, and Catherine Brewton, Vice President, Writer/Publisher Relations, Atlanta. will.i.am will receive the BMI President's Award, and will be saluted with an all-star musical tribute during the ceremony. As a BMI President's Award winner, will.i.am will join an elite group that includes Juanes, Emilio and Gloria Estefan, Willie Nelson, BrIan Wilson, Pete Townsend, and 2009 recipients Taylor Swift and Brooks & Dunn, to name a few.

Also to be awarded that night will be the Urban Song of the Year, Songwriter of the Year, Producer of the Year and Publisher of the Year. Additionally, BMI will honor the Top Urban Producers of 2008-2009, as well as the BMI songwriters whose songs have hit #1 on the Billboard R&B, Hip-Hop and Rap charts.

WHEN: Thursday, September 10. 5:00 p.m. press check-in; 6:00 p.m. arrivals. Red carpet ends at 8 p.m. This is a fashion-forward event; media friends are expected to dress appropriately.

PRESS CREDENTIALS: Media credentials are limited.

All media must fill out a credentials request at www.bmi.com/press/credential. Credentials close on August 31, 2010; credentialed media will be approved by September 4.

Credentials will be for red carpet arrivals only. A limited amount of media will be credentialed to cover the awards ceremonies. Handout video and high-resolution photos from the event will be available upon request and with registration at www.bmi.com/press.

COVERAGE INFORMATION: Video footage: Event EPK including interviews, performances and the President's Award recipient speech will be available the next day. Handout footage will be available the next morning via request and on Image.net ( www.image.net).

High-resolution photos from the event will be available at 9 a.m. EST on September 11 at www.bmi.com/press to registered users only. To request access, please complete the registration form and you will be reviewed for clearance.
