By:

The LA Times is reporting that American Ballet Theatre's "The Sleeping Beauty" will begin performances in Los Angeles July 15th and run through July 18th at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion.

Performances are scheduled for July 15th at 7:30pm, July 16th at 7:30pm, July 17th at 2:00pm and 7:30pm and July 18th at 2:00pm.

The timeless fairy tale of the beautiful Princess Aurora, the evil sorceress Carabosse, a century of sleep and the awakening kiss of a handsome prince comes to life in an all-new production. ABT Artistic Director Kevin McKenzie choreographs this perennial favorite, with assistance by former ABT ballerina Gelsey Kirkland, plus sets and costumes by Tony Award-winners Tony Walton and Willa Kim. Set to Tchaikovsky's ravishing score with a wealth of dazzling dance and a whole storybook full of characters, The Sleeping Beauty promises to be a delight for all to enjoy.

The production will be staged by Kevin McKenzie, Gelsey Kirkland and Michael Chernov with music by Peter Ilyitch Tchaikovsky, set by Tom Walton, Costumes by Willa Kim, with Additional Designs by Holly Hynes and lighting by Richard Pilbrow and Dawn Chiang.

The running time for "The Sleeping Beauty" is two hours and twenty minutse with one intermission.

Over the course of its 70-year history as one of America's leading cultural institutions, American Ballet Theatre has earned a reputation for both the diversity and quality of its touring productions. ABT looks forward to maintaining this tradition of excellence during our 2010 tours.
