The 2010/11 Baroque Variations and Chamber Music Society series at Walt Disney Concert Hall continues with the debut of Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin, founded in East Berlin in 1982 and recognized today as one of the world's leading baroque ensembles.
The ranks of European ensembles that champion the "authentic" style of performing on period instruments continue to grow, and Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin is one of the most compelling new forces in the field.They perform a program that includes Telemann's Overture (Suite) in C major, TWV55: C6; Bach's Brandenburg Concerto No. 5, BWV 1050; Bach's Violin Concerto in E major, BWV 1042; Handel's Concerto grosso in F major; Telemann's Concerto in E minor for Recorder and Flute, TWV 52:el.Members of the Los Angeles Philharmonic perform in a Chamber Music Society series program that includes Loeffler's Two Rhapsodies for Viola, Oboe and Piano, Matheson's Borromean Rings, and Schubert's Piano Trio in B-flat, Op. 99 (D. 898).
