The Harold Clurman Lab Theater is proud to announce its next production, Road to Nirvana, by Arthur Kopit. Kopit's hilarious and irreverent comedy asks how far people will go in pursuit of fame and fortune. The play runs fromSeptember 15 to October 15, 2016. Managing Artistic Director Don K. Williams will direct. Williams recently directed the Harold Clurman Lab Theater's Ovation-nominated productions of Lebensraum and Long Way Go Down.

All shows will offer a "pay what you can" ticket structure in an effort to make theater-going accessible to patrons of all income levels.

Artistic Director Tom Oppenheim on the production: "Harold Clurman said that comedy serves to make people laugh so that when their mouths are open you can pour the truth in. Road to Nirvana is a romp that speaks to a uniquely American phenomenon, a love of money. In Don K. Williams's capable hands, Road to Nirvana will certainly pack a wallop."

The Lab Theater's most recent work in Los Angeles includes the Ovation-Recommended and Ovation-Nominated run of Lebensraum by Israel Horovitz, the Ovation-nominated run of Long Way Go Down by Zayd Dohrn, and the powerful Talking to Terrorists by Robin Soans. In New York, the Harold Clurman Lab Theater recently presented the Edinburgh Festival Fringe First Award winning one-man show Mercy Killers by Michael Milligan and the off-Broadway production of Israel Horovitz's Lebensraum.

Synopsis:

Two ex-movie moguls on the skids reunite to coproduce the big one - an autobiographical screenplay by the world's hottest female rock star. She will even star as herself - if she can find producers willing to meet her extraordinary terms.
