Bill de Blasio, the 109th mayor of New York City, took the oath of office administered by former President Bill Clinton on Wednesday, January 1, 2014.

On hand for the event held at New York's Town Hall was Tony Award winner Cynthia Nixon (Wit, Sex and the City), a member of de Blasio's transition team, and 2013 Tony Award winner and star of Pippin, Patina Miller.

Said Nixon, "It's an exciting time for New York as we inaugurate a new mayor who will stand up for our public schools and ensure an opportunity for children in every borough and in every neighborhood."
