GENERAL INFORMATION:

- Full time

- $22 - $26 an hour based on experience

- Location: Sewell, NJ



SUMMARY:

The Technical Designer works with Project Managers and fabricators to create detailed drawings for custom fabrication projects ranging from Broadway to immersive experiences and beyond. The primary responsibility is to produce construction drawings by adhering to client specifications, shop standards, and best practices. By working in tandem with the fabrication team, the Technical Designer will meet goals in key areas including, timeline, budget, and quality.



Operating hours are 7am – 3:30pm Monday to Friday. Overtime hours and occasional Saturdays as needed. Employment based on active projects, expected workload, and capacity to learn additional skills.



RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Participate in bid meetings and assist in job estimating and value engineering

- Participate in pre-fabrication meetings with production team to outline construction methodology and approach

- Work within client specifications, budget, and timeline to create buildable drawings for the shop floor

- Work with fabricators to refine construction practices and methodologies

- Create project drawings for a range of needs including overview, construction, assembly, and installation

- Perform site surveys to guarantee precise accuracy in drawings

- Pull, prepare, and program CNC parts from drawings

- Support shop floor by providing clarification, CNC’d parts, and quality control as needed

- Collaborate with Project Managers and Fabricators in finding creative technical solutions with drawings and 3d models

- Communicate with management and shop floor on progress and critical details

- Track information, document progress, and revise drawings as needed

- Operate and maintain machines including CNC Routers, Waterjet, and 3d printers

- Communicate with clients on construction methods and project needs



QUALIFICATIONS:

- Bachelor’s degree in Technical Theater or relevant hands-on experience in a related field

- Experienced in AutoCAD 2018 or later, proficiency in 3d is a plus

- Minimum 2 years of professional AutoCAD Drawing

- Must be able to multi-task and establish priorities based on production schedules and shop needs

- Must be able to maintain integrity and quality of project throughout all stages

- Experience with CNC programming and operation is a plus

- Experience in a fabrication shop environment is a plus

- Experience with theatrical rigging is a plus

- Familiarity with steel, aluminum, and wood construction methods is a plus
