Part-time Executive Director - The Actors' Center

The Actors’ Center of Washington, DC is welcoming applications for a part-time Executive Director. With an annual operating budget of approximately $100,000, the Actors’ Center enables actors to pursue their personal goals of excellence and connects DC-area actors to the resources they need for success by offering programming, seminars and networking events designed to develop, hone and showcase their skills.



The Executive Director is responsible for overseeing the administration, programs, and strategic planning of the Actors’ Center. A successful candidate will be a vision-oriented leader with an eye to new directions and partnerships. This position reports to the Actors’ Center Board of Directors.



GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES MAY INCLUDE:



Strategic Planning & Growth

Partnering with the board, creating strategic plans (programmatic, fundraising, diversity/equity/inclusion efforts) and setting measurable, time-bound goals; supporting committees to design and implement plans, and providing report-outs as needed

Identifying and fostering partnerships with arts and humanities organizations across the DMV

Overseeing the development and execution of an annual integrated marketing plan

Incorporating member feedback into operations, programming and outreach



Financial

Developing an annual budget for Board approval

Overseeing financial accounting controls and procedures

Cultivating individual and institutional fundraising relationships

Growing revenue through such strategies as donor campaigns, grants, and strategic partnerships



Operations

Tracking members’ satisfaction and addressing their concerns

Incorporating Diversity, Equity and Inclusion principles into all facets of operations

Tracking growth and returns on investment for Actors’ Center programming, communications and events

Supervising part-time staff members

Coordinating annual meetings, membership and donor networking events, annual lottery auditions, etc.

Participating in/attending industry events as the “face” of the Actors’ Center

Providing monthly report-out to the Board on progress against strategic goals, monthly financial reports and grant writing, and fundraising efforts

Attending monthly Board meetings and updating the Board on major initiatives, fundraising achievements, etc.



DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree and relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience

A demonstrated ability to supervise and collaborate with staff

Skill in working with a Board

Ability to develop and implement a long-term vision for an organization

High-level strategic thinking, planning and executive skills

Success in establishing relationships with individuals and organizations

Strong financial management skills, to include budget preparation, analysis and reporting

Fundraising, development and/or grant-writing experience

Practical experience with social media to achieve business goals

Strong written and oral communications skills



DESIRED BACKGROUND

Experience in fundraising, communications/outreach, and marketing

Experience with actor, theatre, or film non-profit organizations preferred; other non-profit experience considered

Knowledge of non-profit financial management systems

Experience working with and directing IT personnel on website development and upgrades

Experience with Customer Relationship Management software or similar systems

A love of the arts





Work Location: The Actors’ Center office is located in the Dupont Circle neighborhood of Washington, DC. Due to the ongoing pandemic, work is currently performed remotely. Interested candidates must live in the Greater Washington, DC, metropolitan area.



Starting Salary: $30,000 per year. Part-time position. No additional benefits.



Estimated annual workload: 1040 hours per year
