On Thursday 7 October 2010, 8pm The National Concert Hall's launches its 2010/2011 International Concert Season with a recital by British violinist Tasmin Little when she performs the 'Partners in time' recital with pianist John Lenehan. The programme includes a variety of classical favourites including Kreisler's Praeludium and Allegro, Bach Sonata in E major and Mozart's Sonata No. 17 in C major.

Described by the Irish Examiner as 'not just a brilliantly gifted violinist but a superb musician and a magnificent communicator' Little has carved out a hugely successful career playing in all the prestigious concert halls of the world.

Star of 'The Naked Violin', a prestigious South Bank Show television documentary in 2008, she offered a free downloadable recital of works for solo violin online. Promoting the value of music to all corners of society Little's ambitious project was hailed as 'revolutionary' and 'inspiring'. She received the 2008 Classic FM Gramophone Award for Audience Innovation in London.

More recently, the release of her 2009 disc 'Partners in Time' was the first exciting new collaboration with the record company BIS. The idea for 'Partners in Time' was to develop the concept of the Naked Violin, where you can hear a violin programme with a variety of works of completely different styles. 'Partners in Time' explores a range of music spanning two hundred years, from a sonata written by Bach in the early 18th century to a set of folk dances excitingly arranged by Bartok in the early 20th century. The title 'Partners in Time' refers to the chronology of the development of the relationship between Violin and Piano and how different composers responded to the two. Her discography reflects her wide-ranging repertoire and includes twenty-three recordings, ranging from Bruch and Brahms to Karlowicz and Arvo Pärt.

Tasmin has played with many of the world's greatest orchestras in a career that has taken her to every continent of the world. In addition to her regular solo performances, she now play/directs orchestras such as Seattle Symphony, Norwegian Chamber, London Mozart Players, Royal Philharmonic, European Union Chamber Orchestra and Britten Sinfonia. As a concerto player, Tasmin has performed at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam where she gave the World Premiere of a violin concerto by Robin de Raaff, and she will return in 2010 to the Concertgebouw to premiere a concerto by Willem Jeths.

Other performances in 2009 included concerts in Utrecht, Seattle, Katowice, Spain and a major tour of China, where she continued her 'Naked Violin' project as well as performing works from her new CD 'Partners in Time' with John Lenehan.

Tasmin is an Ambassador for The Prince's Foundation for Children and the Arts, is a Fellow of the Guildhall of Music and Drama. She plays a 1757 Guadagnini violin and has, on kind loan from the Royal Academy of Music, the 'Regent' Stradivarius of 1708.

The exciting season of celebrity recitals at The National Concert Hall will also include Italian mezzo-soprano Cecilia Bartoli (30 November) Swedish mezzo-soprano Anne Sofie von Otter ( 7 November), British pianist Paul Lewis (17 October), and many more in 2011.
