Three friends staying in a country mansion are compelled to interact with the precocious young daughter of the owner. Years earlier a faceless investigator makes enquiries into the strange happenings in a sleepy village during WW2. In the house, romances and power struggles play out as a connection is made between the occupants and the troubling circumstances of the past.
