There is a new contemporay circus movement happening, bringing circus techniques out of the big top and into the theatres - no animals, only the human bodies and Fidget Feet Aerial Dance Theatre is one of the leaders in Ireland. Fidget Feet and local teacher Shane Holohan are working with 30 Transition Year students from Elphin Community College to create Taking Flight, a 30 minute aerial dance piece. This involves the students engaging in a series of workshops and training sessions that will take them through the process of developing and putting on a theatre performance. As well as dance, the students are also involved in the costume design, music and multi-media presentation of the work.

Fidget Feet will double-bill with the College with their production of Hang On. This show is contemporary circus at its finest, mixing live action dance with a low slung double dance trapeze and an interactive musician on stage, to bring the suited denizens of the business world into a sumo wrestler's circle of combat. Who will win out, the desire to win over others, the need to pull together so both can win? Is there a stronger sex, will anything be found? Will everything be lost? Is there room for love in an overcrowded market place of perpetual achievement?

This double-bill will be performed in the Roscommon Arts Centre on the evening of Wednesday, 13th April at 8pm, with a matinee running for schools at 1pm. Tickets are available through the booking office at the Arts Centre by calling

This project is running with the support of the National Association for Principals and Deputies, County Roscommon VEC, Elphin Community College Parents' Council, the Roscommon Arts Centre and Carrick on Shannon Gymnastics Club.

Ghostly goings on with 'Blithe Spirit'
The Breffni Players from Carrick-on-Shannon are celebrating their 68th year with the production of Blithe Spirit by Noel Coward, directed by Angus Dunne. The show has just played to full houses in Carrick-on-Shannon and Longford and is coming to Roscommon Arts Centre on Saturday 16th April, 8pm.

Blithe Spirit is a comedy about socialite and novelist Charles Condomine who invites eccentric medium and clairvoyant, Madame Arcati to his house to conduct a séance, hoping to gather material for his next book. The scheme backfires when he is haunted by the ghost of his annoying and temperamental first wife, Elvira, following the séance. Elvira attempts to disrupt Charles' marriage to his second wife, Ruth, who cannot see or hear the ghost.
