Renowned theatre company Druid, bring Martin McDonagh's 'The Cripple of Inishmaan' to Roscommon Arts Centre for 3 performance only from Thursday 27th - Saturday 29th January. There are a very limited of seats left for what is one of the highlights of the theatrical season. These three performances mark the beginning of a major 21 week tour and Roscommon Arts Centre is delighted to welcome Druid to the town for their first performance here.

'The Cripple o f Inishmaan' is McDonagh's most accessible play infused with his trademark humour and eccentric characters. The production revives the unique relationship between writer Martin McDonagh, Tony Award-winning director Garry Hynes and the widely-acclaimed Druid ensemble. Druid's production of Martin McDonagh's The Leenane Trilogy (The Beauty Queen of Leenane, A Skull in Connemara and The Lonesome West) in the late 90's received widespread acclaim and The Beauty Queen of Leenane went on to win four Tony Awards for Druid on Broadway. Local group Sanctuary Players will perform 'The Beauty Queen of Leenane' in Roscommon Arts Centre on 25th & 26th March. The playwright, Martin McDonagh is well known for his film In Bruges which was released in 2008. Exhibition opening by artist Bennie Reilly
Bennie Reilly | Forest Bathing
Friday 28th January - Saturday 5th March

Artist Bennie Reilly will open her new exhibition entitled 'Forest Bathing' at The Gallery, Roscommon Arts Centre on Friday 28th January from 5pm to 7pm. In this exhibition Reilly continues her artistic inquiry into nature. Almost 60% of the world's population live in urban areas, finding themselves at a remove from the natural world, mediated as it is for them as a result of necessity, fear and the geography of urban development. Bennie Reilly presents us with the fruits of such a skewed and fragmented education on the natural world and a fascination with the under-familiar, the little known and the rarely seen in the natural world. The paintings, drawings and wood carvings in this exhibition combine a prescribed perspective on nature with a sense of that which might exist beyond the boundaries of the camera lens. She scratches the surface of the vast natural world, addressing the potential for misinterpretation and flawed perception.

Born in Dublin 1982 Bennie Reilly graduated from IADT, Dún Laoghaire in 2004 and received her MA from Kingston University, London in 2008. She has exhibited in galleries such as Mother's Tank Station, Temple Bar Gallery, Kevin Kavanagh Gallery and the Royal Hibernian Academy where in 2009 she spent time as an artist in residence. This is the artist's third solo exhibition; she is based in Dublin. The exhibition continues at the gallery until 5th March. All are welcome. Viewing during centre opening hours.

Free Family Friendly Fun at the Gallery
The upcoming Family Friendly Afternoons @ the Gallery in Roscommon Arts Centre are designed as an introduction for all the family to the world of art, a fun way to spark those imaginations and get creative with your children. And best of all it's completely FREE!

On the last Saturday of every month throughout spring, families can enjoy a guided tour of the exhibition & learn about the artist, before rolling up your sleeves and taking part in a fun art workshop with tutor Linda Shevlin. Linda will guide parents and children through the work on show each month in a family-friendly fashion, giving young and old an insight into how the artist works. The short tour will be followed by one of Linda's ever-popular workshops where everyone will have the chance to create their very own simple artworks using methods similar to those used by the artist in the gallery. Children must be accompanied by an adult and the programme is suitable for children aged 5+. Places are issued on a first come, first served basis. Pre-booking is advised.
