Camilla Griehsel Presents 'Mamasongue' At The Everyman Mamasongue - Songs In Mother Tongue is a celebration of songs from distant lands, brought to the stage by Camilla Griehsel, one of Ireland's most versatile and passionate singers. Camilla sings songs from around the world, and from just around the corner. Transcending the constraints of culture, time and place, Mamasongue is a piece which, through performance, shows that a song's true meaning can be deeply felt, regardless of its language. The show comes to The Everyman, Cork, on Saturday September 15th at 8pm.

Presented over two hours, Camilla sings of love, loss and longing, passion, desire and joy. Camilla Griehsel, born in Sweden, now living in West Cork, has over thirty years professional experience from pop recording artist to avant-garde opera, from traditional jazz to South American folk. She is dedicated to bringing people together and connecting hearts through the power and universality of song.

"As we travel from culture to culture, we'll find parallels in the way music resolves into nurture, love and joy from keening laments to the comfort of a lullaby. From a mother's tongue comes the primordial language of song beyond words" says Camilla.

In Mamasongue - Songs of Mother Tongue, Camilla will be joined onstage by collaborator and West Cork based pianist Maurice Seezer, Congolese guitarist Niwel Tsumbu, Donegal percussionist Éamonn Cagney, and South African bassist Concord Nkabinde

The show follows the release of the beautiful single Vaj Vaj, originally written by Fergus O'Farrell and Malcolm MacClancy and recorded by the West Cork band Interference. (https://vimeo.com/261706552)

Tickets (€23) for the show are available from The Everyman box office and online at everymancork.com, further details about the performance can be found at mamasongue.com
