DOS FALLOPIA Opens Tonight at The Phoenix Theatre

The Phoenix Theatre of Indianapolis announces the return of Dos Fallopia starring Lisa Koch and Peggy Platt. Opening June 13, 2013, this show can be seen on the Livia and Steve Russell Stage at the Phoenix through July 14, 2013. Titled Dos Fallopia: Spudd Potion No. 9, this show features sketches such as "All in the Family Feud" and "The Spudds: Big Valley of the Dolls."

'We have always had some type of visibility at Circle City IN Pride and have felt that the mission of the Pride Festival fits in very well with our mission as a contemporary professional theatre,' says Phoenix Theatre Producing Director Bryan Fonseca.
Buck Creek Players Stages CITY OF ANGELS, Now thru 6/23

The Buck Creek Players will continue their 2012-2013 season 'In the Spotlight' with the Tony Award winning musical, City of Angels, a deliciously funny spoof of 1940's film noir and hard-boiled detective fiction. The wickedly witty musical -- written by Larry Gelbart, creator of TV's M*A*S*H -- opened on Broadway in 1989. With four-part harmonies by Cy Coleman (Sweet Charity, Barnum, The Will Rogers Follies) and lyrics by David Zippel (The Goodbye GIrl, Disney's Hercules, Disney's Mulan), City of Angels went on to win numerous honors in 1990, including the Tony, Drama Desk, Outer Critics Circle, and The New York Drama Critics Circle awards for best musical. Opening tonight, June 7th, and running for three weekends through Sunday, June 23rd, curtain times will be at 8:00 p.m. todays and Saturdays, with 2:30 p.m. matinees offered on Sundays. All performances will be held at the Buck Creek Playhouse on the southeast-side of Indianapolis at 11150 Southeastern Avenue. Tickets are $17 for adults and $15 for students (through college), and senior citizens (ages 62 and older). Reservations are recommended and may be reserved online atwww.buckcreekplayers.com, or by calling (317) 862-2270. Group discounts are also available for parties of ten or more when purchased online.

A. Lincoln: A Pioneer Tale is written and directed by Ken Jones, the resident playwright for Northern Kentucky University. Jones hopes audiences not only will enjoy the theatrical spectacle of the large dance and choral numbers, but walk away with a sense of joy and pride that a young pioneer boy could grow up to be one of the greatest leaders of all time.

Kicking the 58th season off with a bang, The Wagon Wheel Theatre presents the Tony Award winning musical based on the Dreamworks film which made 'Shrek' a household name. Ending its national tour in April of this year, Shrek, The Musical makes it regional debut only at the Wagon Wheel Theatre in Warsaw tonight, June 5-15.

A Broadway star, two television legends and a guitar virtuoso have joined the entertainment lineup for the Encore Celebration Gala Weekend presented by Krieg DeVault. The June 28-29 benefit for the Center for the Performing Arts also serves as the setting for the second annual Great American Songbook Hall of Fame induction. Frank Sinatra, Liza Minelli, Rita Moreno and Jimmy Webb represent the 2013 class of the Great American Songbook Hall of Fame.

Monty Python's Spamalot is a musical comedy 'lovingly ripped off from' the 1975 film Monty Python and the Holy Grail. Like the film, it is a highly irreverent parody of the Arthurian Legend, but it differs from the film in many ways. The original 2005 Broadway production, directed by Mike Nichols with Eric Idle writing the musical's book and lyrics, won three Tony Awards, including the Tony Award for Best Musical of the 2004-05 season and received 14 Tony Award nominations.

The Phoenix Theatre of Indianapolis announces the Indiana Premiere of the newest play by Amy Herzog, 4000 Miles in the Frank and Katrina Basile Theatre. Opening Thursday, May 9, and running through Sunday, June 9, 2013, the play is a skillful joining of loose ends. The dangling threads in this case are Leo, a scruffy cyclist trying to find his bearings after a cross-country road trip, and Vera, a crotchety lefty teetering on the brink of infirmity in a rent-controlled apartment in Greenwich Village. In the end, Leo and Vera endear themselves to the audience in much the same way that they grow on each other.

So no one mistakenly shows up with children for a performance about Indianapolis' loop around the city, perhaps? During the carpool trip around the city's loop and throughout a therapy session for the five sex addicts, streets, neighborhoods and parks are mentioned as great places for various sexual encounters.
