The Buck Creek Players will wrap up their 39th season 'In the Spotlight' with their fifth biennial Play-A-Part Fundraiser of the hit musical, Oklahoma!, sponsored in part by The Friends of Sue Leavell. Quickly becoming a BCP audience favorite, the Play-A-Part Fundraisers separate themselves from the playhouse's traditional community theater productions in that all roles are 'won' through an online silent auction with no required auditions! Veteran musical theater performers join first-timers to give this classic musical a comedic twist much like The Carol Burnett Show. Oklahoma features music by Richard Rodgers, and book and lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II. Boasting one of Broadway's most memorable scores, including 'Oh What a Beautiful Mornin',' 'The Surrey With the Fringe on Top,' 'I Cain't Say No,' and the title tune, you can bet that this comedic take on the traditional classic musical will definitely bring a smile to your face.

As a partner in the 2013 Spirit & Place Festival, Oaklandon Civic Theatre, collaborating with the Benjamin Harrison Presidential Site, will present this play for six performances - Saturday, November 2, Sunday, November 3, Friday, November 8, Saturday, November 9, Friday, November 15 and Saturday, November 16. Friday and Saturday performances are at 8 PM; the Sunday matinee is at 2 PM. Please note that these dates vary from the usual schedule to coordinate with Festival events. An audience talk-back will be presented after the first four performances to explore the concept of "risk," the theme of the 2013 Festival.

MONTY PYTHON'S SPAMALOT Opens Tonight at the Athenaeum Theatre

Monty Python's Spamalot is a musical comedy 'lovingly ripped off from' the 1975 film Monty Python and the Holy Grail. Like the film, it is a highly irreverent parody of the Arthurian Legend, but it differs from the film in many ways. The original 2005 Broadway production, directed by Mike Nichols with Eric Idle writing the musical's book and lyrics, won three Tony Awards, including the Tony Award for Best Musical of the 2004-05 season and received 14 Tony Award nominations.
