CABARET POE, a musical based on the works of Edgar Allan Poe, returns to the Irvington Lodge in Indianapolis for a five-week engagement beginning October 1st.

With a myriad of eerie effects, funereal gothic-esque costumes, and bone-chilling dramatic moments, Cabaret Poe is the perfect addition to Indianapolis's fall festivities this year. Not to mention that the production is housed in Irvington, one of the most intriguing neighborhoods in Indianapolis, known for it's bizarre tales, ghostly happenings and Halloween Festival.

The production blends the classic gothic horror of Poe with wry humor and dark comedy while conjuring up most of the American literary master's most famous stories and poems. The musical features re-imaginings of such stories as The Fall of the House of Usher, The Pit and the Pendulum, The Masque of Red Death, The Black Cat, Annabelle Lee and The Raven.

The 2010 production brings back the original cast (Ben Asaykwee, Julie Ann Barber, Renae Stone, Maria Meschi and Sara Lukaszewski) as well as a few new treats. Writer/director Ben Asaykwee notes, "there will be a few surprises this year that people won't want to miss. With the original cast returning, we now have the time and opportunity to produce even more of what audiences loved last year. A good friend of mine summed up the feeling perfectly when she said 'laughter through fears is my favorite emotion.'"

In 2008, Q Artistry performed large portions of Cabaret Poe at the all night, international arts festival "Looptopia" in Chicago, to wildly enthusiastic reviews. In 2009, Cabaret Poe opened on Oct. 2nd as a full-scale musical in Indianapolis and played to packed houses for the entire month of October, closing with a bang as a featured event at the Irvington Halloween Festival.
