Indianapolis Civic Theatre will conduct OPEN AUDITIONS for the dynamic Rodgers and Hammerstein musical CAROUSEL on Monday and Tuesday, January 4th and 5th at 6:30pm.

Auditions will be held at the Theatre facility, 3200 Cold Spring Road on the campus of Marian University. A FREE Audition Preparation Session is offered on Monday, December 28 from 6-7pm at the Theatre. Rehearsals are scheduled to begin January 18.

The show will be presented March 12 through March 28, 2010. The script calls for a cast of approximately 5 men and 5 women. A large, singing-dancing adult ensemble and small youth ensemble (ages 8-14), portraying sailors, amusement park carnies and townspeople, will also be cast. Principal roles include the viral and arrogant carnival worker Billy Bigelow, young, naïve millworker Julie Jordan, Julie's best friend Carrie, sleazy criminal Jigger Craigin and Billy and Julie's teenage daughter Louise. This award-winning show, named by Time Magazine as the 20th Century's best musical, features the classic songs "If I Loved You," "June Is Bustin' Out All Over" and "You'll Never Walk Alone." Civic Theatre's production will be directed by Robert J. Sorbera.

Performers are asked to prepare 16 bars of a song and may be asked to sing from the show. Actors should bring sheet music in the appropriate key and dress comfortably for dancing. An accompanist will be provided. More audition information available online at www.civictheatre.org.
