Fonseca Theatre Company Announces HOODED, OR BEING BLACK FOR DUMMIES

By:

The Fonseca Theatre Company announces that the Indiana Premiere of Hooded or Being Black for Dummies will open November 9th at Indy Convergence (2611 W Michigan Street). Our inaugural production continues through December 2, 2018, with Ben Rose as director.

A timely examination of growing up black in America by rising-star African American playwright, Tearrance Arvelle Chisholm. Marquis, a book smart prep-schooler from the suburbs, meets Tru, a street savvy Baltimorean, in a holding cell. Tru thinks Marquis has lost his "blackness" and decides to write a manual: Being Black for Dummies. . He assumes the role of professor, but Marquis proves to be a reluctant pupil. They butt heads, debate, wrestle and ultimately prove that Nietzsche and 2pac were basically saying the same thing.

Tickets for Hooded, or Being Black for Dummies, as well as the other remaining shows in our inaugural season, are on sale now. Tickets are $25 for regular admission, $20 for 21 and under, and $15 for Near West residents. Performances are held Fridays at 8pm, Saturdays at 5pm and 8pm, and Sundays at 2pm.
