Premiering for the first time in Indiana, I Love You Because is a modern-day telling of Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice. Set in New York City, the six-person cast takes the audience on an adventure through two completely different relationships between four lovably awkward characters. When Austin (David Michael Cress), a conservative greeting card writer, discovers that his long-time girlfriend has been cheating on him, he thinks his life is over. His knuckleheaded brother Jeff (Stacey 'Jack' Johnson) immediately runs to his rescue and encourages him to play the field. In no time, the two are on a double date with best friends Marcy (Angela Manlove), a free-spirited photographer, and Diana (Jennifer Poynter), a number-crunching actuary. Marcy is wild and liberal and knows just how to push Austin's conservative buttons. Diana tries to teach Jeff to be practical in his life. While the individuals in the relationships contrast vastly, their love develops in interesting and comedic ways. It's a comedy that explores the rules and nuances of dating and reminds us that true companionship means learning how to love someone, not in spite of their differences, but because of them. Rounding out the cast performing all the remaining roles will be Kate Ayers and David K. Dulhanty.Videos
