Jubilee Theatre Announces New Artistic Director

By:

The Board of Trustees of Jubilee Theatre is proud to announce the selection of its new artistic director, Tre Garrett.

Tre Garrett is a native of Houston, Texas, where he attended its prestigious High School for the Performing and Visual Arts. He holds a BFA in Directing from North Carolina School of the Arts and a MFA in Directing from Academy of Art University.

Since 2005, Garrett has worked with Walt Disney Entertainment, directing over 150 productions ranging from live entertainment to videos. Garrett was also honored as a Kennan Fellow at the John F. Kennedy Center from 2004 - 2005, developing new works through staged readings and assisting in major Kennedy Center shows and tours. His theatrical experience includes an extensive list of regional work as well as serving as the Assistant Director in the Broadway production of Julius Caesar, starring Denzel Washington.

"Tre's impressive list of directing accomplishments and undeniable enthusiasm for the theatre make him a natural fit for Jubilee. We are excited to have him join Jubilee and look forward to the theatre's growth under his direction," said Joy Thomas, Board President. Garret will join Jubilee Theatre in January and will make his directing debut with the final production of Jubilee's 30th Anniversary Season. The production, slated to run July 22, 2010 through August 21, 2010, will be chosen by Garrett and announced next spring.

"I have always been in love with theatre. Growing up in Houston, Texas, I dreamed of the day that I would create and share my love with others. It feels good to be living a dream," said Garrett. "I'm excited to begin this journey with Jubilee Theatre and I am committed to producing works that inspire, engage and entertain."
