Trash & Treasure is a highly interactive adventure that spurs kids' to learn about the value of rubbish. The short play follows Truckster, a talking garbage truck, and his best friend Sortie as they sing and dance their way through a day in the life of our garbage. Introducing concepts of reducing, reusing and recycling the play will appeal to any child who has ever rushed to the window to watch a garbage truck pass by or any family who wonders how they can help make a difference in our environment.

Built specifically for audiences 3-6 years old the play is a collaboration between Honolulu Theatre for Youth and the City and County of Honolulu-Department of Environmental Services.

"Capturing the curiosity of young people before they form the habits and values that will last a lifetime is essential to our health as an island and as a planet," says HTY Artistic Director Eric Johnson. "By partnering with the City and innovative businesses like Reuse Hawaii we are including families and young people in a conversation that will have a profound effect on their future".

The production was created by HTY's professional ensemble, including actors Junior Tesoro and Matthew Mazzella; Director Eric Johnson; Scenic, Props, and Costume Designer Lynn Jeffries and features original music by Matthew Mazzella.
