It is a wondrous sidewalk fairy tale about a young girl searching for fame and the father she never knew. With just one clear voice to hear her, she lands in the city that bears her name, Brooklyn. Lyricist Mark Schoenfeld, born in Brooklyn and raised in the Bronx projects, became a street performer when Barri McPherson, a friend from his past heard him singing on the street one day and she invited him to come live in her home. Together, the two wrote the beautiful music for Brooklyn, which premiered on Broadway in September 2004.
