About

​Founded and presented since 2014 by The Wilbury Theatre Group, The Providence Fringe Festival®, a.k.a FRINGEPVD, is produced to nurture emerging and established performing artists by presenting fun, fearless and affordable theater to the community. FRINGEPVD creates ties between artists, audiences, businesses and local organizations, amplifying the vibrancy of Providence as a renowned cultural destination and an unparalleled place to live, work, and visit.

FRINGEPVD is open to anyone who wants to produce their own show. For some artists, it's a once-a-year opportunity to create a show; for others it can be an opportunity to try something new. Audiences are encouraged to take full advantage of the variety of performing & visual artists participating in the fringe. Attend performances that you wouldn't normally attend, see things you wouldn’t otherwise see.

Submission Requirements

FringePVD uses a non-juried, lottery process to ensure the festival is a cross-section of all sorts of performance from across the country. WE WANT YOU TO PARTICIPATE. The more fantastic artists there are performing the bigger and better the festival will be. While we'll do our best to have every single artist that applies in the festival, because our festival is lottery-based we cannot guarantee that everybody who applies will be able to perform.

All artists who wish to apply for the festival MUST submit a completed application AND pay the one-time application fee.

Finances

Artist application fee:

Early Bird Artist Application fee is $45 
Regular Artist Application Fee is $65 

Production fee:
For OUTDOOR / IN-PERSON performances the production fee is $165
For ONLINE / STREAMING performances the production fee is $35 

100% of all door/ticket sales go to the performing artists.

Volunteer Information

Front of House volunteers (house managers, info desk helpers, wayfinders) are needed to ensure that the festival is fun, safe, and welcoming for everyone! These are all non-technical roles and are literally not a heavy lift. Volunteers ideally help for a minimum of two nights over the festival. All volunteers attend one of our scheduled training sessions where they learn what to expect and where everything is located. 

Volunteer Benefits:

• Volunteers will receive a FREE FESTIVAL PASS to use on nights they're not helping
• Volunteers receive a LIMITED EDITION FringePVD t-shirt
• We verify volunteer hours for those collecting for school or work (hint: this is a great opportunity for high school and college students to log their hours . . . and we write glowing letters!)
• Friends or partners can be paired up for volunteer assignments!
