About
The Edmonton International Fringe Theatre Festival is North America’s largest and longest-running Fringe Festival, returning for its 45th edition in Old Strathcona, Edmonton, Alberta. It is one of the top five fringe festivals worldwide.
The festival hosts 200+ theatre productions across 30+ venues, featuring 1,600+ artists from local, national, and international backgrounds. It welcomes over 700,000 site visits annually and generates $16 million in local economic impact. The festival supports creative freedom, boundary-pushing performances, and accessibility, including a free KidsFringe program for children under 12.
Artists keep 100% of their ticket revenue.

Indoor Lottery Program
-
The festival operates 75 indoor shows, selected through a random lottery.

Includes $10,000 of in-kind support, covering venue rental, staging, lighting, sound, box office support, and two venue technicians.

Categories include Local, National, International, and Theatre for Young Audiences (TYA).

Bring Your Own Venue (BYoV) Program

Allows artists to produce their show at an approved venue outside festival-run spaces.

Artists handle all costs, scheduling, and venue coordination.

Scheduling & Technical Details

Indoor Lottery artists are assigned venues by May 2025.

Application fee (all artists): $45 (+$2.25 GST) = $47.25

Indoor Lottery Artist Fee (Local, National, International): $800 (+$40 GST) = $840

Indoor Theatre for Young Audiences Fee: $675 (+$33.75 GST) = $708.75

Outdoor Artist Lottery Fee: $625 (+$31.25 GST) = $656.25

Bring Your Own Venue (BYoV) Fee: $650 (+$32.50 GST) = $682.50

Box Office Revenue

Artists set their own ticket prices and keep 100% of ticket sales.

Fringe Theatre provides box office services for lottery-selected artists.

Financial Deadlines

April 28, 2026: Last day to withdraw for a full refund.

May 19, 2026: Last day to withdraw for a 50% refund. After this, fees are non-refundable.

Artists receive festival earnings within a week of closing via their registered payout method.
