Breakdown

LAURA
Late 30's to mid 40's. Gretchen’s partner, classical pianist. She's a handful and she knows it. She’s idealistic, honest, and has a “mania for control.”

GRETCHEN
Late 30's to mid 40's. Lawyer, meticulous. She gets it done and gets it done right. She’s logical in her way and does what she has to do to get what she wants. She needs a baby with Laura and is very anxious about the baby’s DNA. It must be perfect.

CHUCK
Late 20's to mid 30's. Gretchen’s co-worker. Litigator. Unknowingly the chosen man to father Gretchen and Laura’s baby. Nice looking DNA, kind, comfortable with himself, understanding, has good insight into others. Hides his depressed tendencies well.

DORENE
60+. Laura’s mother. She is a force and has a colorful, scandalous past that even her daughter doesn’t know about. She is the opposite of her daughter’s tortured nature as she goes with the flow and is a lover of life.
