Vanda:
Mid 20s. When she shows up to an audition, Vanda seems at first at be flighty and shallow. But when she starts to act, we're amazed to discover she's a brilliant actress who can do it all – accents, style, cultivation, sensuality. Needs to be charismatic, funny, sexy, and quirky – and also to have real classical chops. She blows us away for ninety straight minutes. Must also look great in a bustier and boots with heels, which she wears for much of the play.
Thomas:
Late 20s - mid 30s. Authoritative theatre director/adaptor, looking for the perfect actress for his adaptation of “Venus in Fur”. Artistic type. Cultivated, intelligent, even pedantic, and maybe hiding secret passions behind a veil of art and intellect. He's engaged to be married, but is it for love? Needs real appeal, which can come from charisma, looks ... or, ideally, both.
