SYNOPSIS:

ELF The Musical is the hilarious tale of Buddy, a young orphan child who mistakenly crawls into Santa’s bag of gifts and is transported back to the North Pole. Unaware that he is actually human, Buddy’s enormous size and poor toy-making abilities cause him to face the truth. With Santa’s permission, Buddy embarks on a journey to New York City to find his birth father, discover his true identity, and help New York remember the true meaning of Christmas. This modern-day Christmas classic is sure to make everyone embrace their inner ELF.

SEEKING:

[BUDDY] (Male-identifying, mid 20s-early 30s) Funny, warm and honest, with an infectious personality. He has been raised as one of Santa’s elves and has the innocence of a child. He has outrageous enthusiasm for everything he sees and does but is very genuine. Comedic with great timing and a very strong mover with a great sense of physical comedy. Tap skills are a plus. Tenor up to a G.

[JOVIE] (Female-identifying, mid 20s-early 30s) Comedic, appealing, guarded New Yorker that doesn’t have much Christmas spirit until meeting Buddy. She is cynical and a bit tough around the edges but has a hidden vulnerability. Has an amazing singing voice. Mezzo with a strong belt up to a D flat.

[WALTER HOBBS] (Male-identifying, Late 40s-early 50s) He is a successful businessman who has become cold and distant with his family until Buddy enters their life. He is a workaholic with little time left for enjoying life or appreciating simple things. Has a good singing voice. Bari-tenor.

[EMILY HOBBS] (Female-identifying, 40s) Walter’s wife and Michael’s mother, she is at first overwhelmed by Buddy but soon embraces him as part of the family. An Upper West Side Mom, warm with a great wit and an amazing singing voice. Mezzo with strong belt up to a C.

[MICHAEL HOBBS] (Male-identifying, 12) Michael Hobbs is the smarter-than-average 12-year-old son of Walter and Emily. He quickly befriends his new adult brother, Buddy, and does everything he can to make sure Buddy becomes a permanent part of the family. A solid singer. Moves well, tap dance skills a bonus. Unchanged voice up to an E.

[SANTA] (Male-identifying, 50s – 60s) Jolly, warm, funny, good singing voice. Down to earth, blue-collar kind of Santa. Loveable with an acerbic wit.

[DEB] (Female-identifying, 30s – 40s) A funny secretary at Walter’s office, full of character and sass. A very strong character singer with an excellent belt. Strong mover.

[MR. GREENWAY] (Male-identifying, 40s-50s) Greenway is a shrewd and cranky businessman, has great comic timing and sings well.

[MACY’S MANAGER] (Male-identifying, 40s-50s) Is full of character, lots of attitude, sassy and spirited. Able to sing well and has great comic timing. Strong Mover.

[ENSEMBLE DANCER/SINGERS] (20s to 40s) All identities and physical types who are both EXCELLENT singers and EXCELLENT dancers in both contemporary Musical Theater style and TAP to play various featured roles including store/office workers and elves. Must have an excellent sense of humor and a commitment to collaborate in an ensemble. Ensemble may cover lead roles.
