For a five-minute singing/acting appointment, please call (401) 782-3800, x15, M-F only after 3/7/11. Equity Members without appointments will be seen throughout the audition day, as time permits. No appointment needed for dance audition.
Singing/acting auditions: Please prepare two brief songs (one up-tempo and one ballad). Note that there may be time to perform one selection only. Bring sheet music in the correct key; accompanist provided. Some may be asked to stay for the dance call. Bring appropriate dancewear and (if you have them) character shoes.
Dancing auditions: Please be warmed up and ready to dance when the call begins. Wear appropriate dancewear and have ballet and character shoes. Some may be asked to stay and sing after all have danced. Please prepare 16 bars of an up-tempo theatre song. Bring sheet music in the correct key; accompanist provided.
Please bring a picture & resume, stapled back-to-back.
Callbacks, if necessary, will be Sunday, March 13, 2011.

Realtor® in Putnam County. Former Putnam County Spelling Bee champion herself, and returning moderator. Soprano (C#4-Ab5).
Vice Principal Douglas Panch:
40s. Last-minute substitute word pronouncer with a past.
Mitch Mahoney:
20s–30s. Menacing ex-con who; serving as “comfort counselor” as part of his community service sentence. Tenor (E3-A4 (B4)).

Olive Ostrovsky:
Tentative newcomer who tries to befriend the others. Soprano (B3-F#5).
William Barfée:
Allergy-plagued student with limited social skills. Tenor (Eb3-Bb4).
Logainne SchwartzandGrubenierre:
Youngest contestant, but the most politically aware. Soprano (C4-D5).
Marcy Park:
Asian American. Over-achiever. Soprano/mezzo (B3-E5).
Leaf Coneybear:
Home-schooled, somewhat wide-eyed offspring of hippie parents. Baritenor (A2-G4).
Chip Tolentino:
Boy scout. Full of hormonal angst. Tenor (C3-B4).
MAN OF LA MANCHA Music: Mitch Leigh. Lyrics: Joe Darion. Book: Dale Wasserman. 1st reh: 6/7. Runs 6/22-7/16.
Don Quixote /Cervantes / Quijana:
40s. Seeking a strong, confident actor with an equally strong, confident voice. Must flow quickly and easily between characters and emotions, while singing and acting. Baritone.
Sancho Panza:
40s. Quixote’s faithful manservant and sidekick. Sweet and simple, yet very shrewd. Actor must be able to play both comic and straight-man. Tenor (C to high G).
Aldonza:
30s. Seeking a fearless actress with an exceptional voice and dance ability. Role is both physically and emotionally demanding. Soprano/mezzo (low Ab to high Ab).
Innkeeper / Prisoner:
40s. Strong, but kind and sympathetic. Plays the Innkeeper, but is mistaken for a Lord. Bass (low G to C#).
The Duke / Dr. Carrasco:
30s. Prosecutor of Cervantes’s case; Antonia's fiancé. Man of breeding, intelligence and logic. Seeking a strong actor who sings beautifully. Baritone (low C to Db).
Antonia / Prisoner:
20s. Quijana’s young niece. Worried about the effect of her uncle's madness on her forthcoming marriage to Dr. Carrasco. Mezzo (C to high F).
The Padre / Prisoner:
50s. Wise and kind, with a twinkle in his eye. Teno (F to high G).
Ensemble:
Must be very strong dancers with partnering skills. Must also sing well. Several smaller characters will be cast from the chorus.

Edna Turnblad:
Woman, 40s. PLAYED BY A MAN. Tracy’s kind, plus-sized mother. Runs a laundry business out of her home. Tenor; distinctive voice.
Wilbur Turnblad:
50s. Tracy’s goofy father. Owns the Har-De-Har Hut joke shop. Still madly in love with his wife, Edna. Encourages Tracy to follow her dreams. Baritone.
Motormouth Maybelle:
African American, 35–45. Owner of a downtown record shop and host of “Negro Day” on “The Corny Collins Show”. Self-described as “big, blonde and beautiful”. Alto.
Velma von Tussle:
35-45. Amber’s scheming mother, and producer of “The Corny Collins Show”. Pushes her daughter to seek the stardom that she (Velma) never had. Belt.
Corny Collins:
30s. Exciting, cocky host of “The Corny Collins Show”. Tenor.
The following teen characters are played by adult actors (18+) who can play teens believably:
Tracy Turnblad:
“Pleasantly plump” teenager. Dreams of fame, and fights to racially integrate “The Corny Collins Show”. Mezzo.
Link Larkin:
Teen heartthrob, and one of “The Corny Collins Show” Council Members. Falls in love with Tracy.
Penny Pingleton:
Teen. Tracy’s slightly dorky, devoted and perky best friend.
Seaweed J. Stubbs:
African American teen. Hip “Negro Day”. Son of Motormouth Maybelle. Falls in love with Penny.
Little Inez:
African American teen. Seaweed’s younger sister. Tries to audition for “The Corny Collins Show”, but is turned away because she is black. Belter.
Amber von Tussle:
Teen. Bratty, selfish resident princess of “The Corny Collins Show”. Willing to do anything to win the Miss Teenage Hairspray pageant. Belt.
THE DROWSY CHAPERONE Score: Lisa Lambert & Greg Morrison. Book: Bob Martin & Don McKellar. 1st reh: 8/2. Runs 8/17-9/4.
Man In Chair:
40s. Musical theatre aficionado who mourns the end of the “Golden Era”. His recording of “The Drowsy Chaperone” brings the show to life as he narrates.
The Drowsy Chaperone:
40s. Janet's alcoholic confidante, played by (fictional) well-established stage actress Beatrice Stockwell. Alto (F3-D5).
Robert Martin:
30s. Dashing, ever-cheerful groom, played by (fictional) matinee idol Percy Hyman. Excellent tapper. Tenor (C3-Ab4).
George:
30s. Robert's anxious best man. Excellent tapper. Tenor (F3-Bb4).
Janet van de Graaf:
20s. The famous bride, played by (fictional) rising star Jane Roberts. True “triple threat” with great comic timing. Alto (G3-Eb).
Aldolpho:
30s. European self-proclaimed “ladies man”, played by (fictional) former silent movie star Roman Bartelli. Bass/baritone w/falsetto (A#2-G4).
Feldzieg:
60s. Broadway producer, played by (fictional) Jack Adler. Baritenor (Db3-Db4).
Kitty:
20s. Feldzieg's dim-witted companion, played by (fictional) Sadie Adler. Soprano (Bb3-F5).
Mrs. Tottendale:
50s. Air-headed host of the wedding. Alto (G3-Db5).
Underling:
50s. Mrs. Tottendale's savvy butler. Tenor (Ab2-G4).
Trix:
Woman, 30s. Brave, brash aviator. Alto (Ab3-Eb5).
Two Gangsters:
Posing as pastry chefs, intending to collect from Feldzieg, played by the (fictional) vaudeville duo the Tall Brothers. Tenors (Db3-Gb4).
