Preparation: Dancers: please be warmed up and ready to begin at the time listed. Vocalists: prepare 16 bars of a musical selection and provide sheet music, in the correct key, for the accompanist. Prerecorded tracks or a cappella auditions are not allowed. Actors: Sides provided at check- in. All: Please bring a current headshot/resume. --- Musical theatre-style interpretation of a classic Hawaiian luau. Combines traditional Polynesian dance with contemporary music while celebrating the meaning of ‘ohana’ and the spirit of aloha. --- Seeking: Note: Performers must be at least 18 and authorized to work in the United States. Vocalists: Auntie Wini: Mature female character. Role for a character actress who sings. Must have good comedic timing and move well. Familiarity with Polynesian dance is preferred but not required. Kimo: Role for a leading man-type pop tenor (to G#) who moves well. Strong athletic build a plus. Familiarity with Polynesian dance is preferred but not required. Howie: Role for a male comedic pop tenor (to G#) who moves well. Strong comedic actor with medium build. Familiarity with Polynesian dance is preferred but not required. Actors: Scout: Female. Role for a strong comedic actor who moves well. Familiarity with Polynesian dance is a plus. Leilani: Female. Role for a slender comedic actor with strong movement ability. Familiarity with Polynesian dance is a plus. Polynesian Dancers: Female Dancers: Should be strong in Auana Hula and Tahitian styles of dance. Proficiency in four poi balls and uli uli's is desirable. Please bring implements, sarong, grass skirt and bikini top. A changing area will be provided. Male Dancers: Should be strong in Kahiko and Awana Hula and Samoan Slap dance. Attire: shirtless with Malo or Pareau. A changing area will be provided.
